Still So Very Thankful

If you're a frequent visitor to the blog, you've noticed I got a little sidetracked from 30 days of Thankfulness but only out of trying to keep updates current.

Despite that fact that Liv is calling Room 1524 here at Lurie Children's Hospital Home, there is so much to be thankful for:

  • Olivia's cardiologist knew when to throw in the towel and say that he was ill equipped and out of ideas how to continuously treat her heart failure - referring us to another hospital that he thought could better suit her needs
  • The outpouring of love and support from friends and family near and far has been amazing.  It's only been a few days but Olivia's room already has a lot of new goodies from loved ones trying to keep the little lady happy and busy
  • Liv's appetite is atypical for that of a child in heart failure.  So long as she gets a variety of foods like pasta pesto and a Chipotle burrito bowl - the girl is eating up a storm
  • Her happiness, while it took a few days of adjustment, she really is pretty happy and I don't feel like her quality of life is suffering
  • The family out there that will someday need to lose their child and make the courageous decision to donate their organs to save Olivia's life and the lives of others
  • My job which makes me crazy but provides me sanity and balance all the same
  • All the grandparents that are ready to drop anything at a moment's notice just to keep things as comfortable and painless as possible
